Update on federal funding for Charlottesville Schools

Charlottesville City Schools staff, families, and students,


I’m writing to let you know that the Trump administration recently decided to withhold significant amounts of federal funding from school divisions including ours. If this pause in certain kinds of Title funding is permanent, Charlottesville City Schools could lose about $417,000. 


In the short term we have carryover funds that will enable us to soften the blow. However, should these cuts become permanent, we will feel the impacts in areas including services for English language learners, professional development for staff, and some staff stipends and contract services.


It is my hope that the federal government will quickly restore this much-needed funding. In the meantime, I encourage you to contact your federal elected officials to let them know how Charlottesville will be impacted:
