A Note from Dr. Malone

Black Knight Nation -

This week's update includes a reminder about tomorrow's PTO Potluck and our ongoing Food and Winter Clothes Drive.

Tomorrow evening, the PTO is hosting a celebratory Thanksgiving Potluck. While there will be brief updates on budgets and projects, the heart of the evening is connection and gratitude. It’s a chance for us to pause, share a meal, and appreciate the people who make CHS such a vibrant and caring place. The potluck will be held in A Commons at 7pm, and the entire family is welcome and encouraged to attend.
I also want to thank our CHS community for your continued support of our food pantry. We have already collected multiple boxes of food and winter items, which are being shared directly with families. Donations are still being accepted through our Amazon Wishlist or at the collection table in the main welcome area.

Lastly, look out for some upcoming celebrations on behalf of our Fall sports teams, including a special acknowledgement of our senior student athletes, as we conclude our Fall season. For several of our Black Knights, this was their last season as a high school athlete; for all our students, we look forward to celebrating this bittersweet time in their lives.

The Black Knight Nation continues to embody what this season is all about—gratitude, generosity, and community. Every act of kindness, large or small, strengthens the fabric of who we are as a school. Thank you for showing up for one another and for helping CHS remain a place where everyone belongs and everyone matters.

I Love the Knight Life!

After-school Tutoring and Buy-Back

Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4p-5p.
Most days will be in the media center but may use A or B Commons if needed.

Student on-time arrival to class is critical for student success and class community development.
Student tardiness will be monitored on a daily basis.
Students who are excessively tardy (either by the frequency of tardiness or by the number of minutes) may be assigned After-school Buy Back from 4:00pm - 5pm (Tuesday/Thursdays) or lunch detention (daily). This includes students in the halls without Passes during our Tardy Sweeps (tardy checks after the bell has rung between classes).
CHS admin or staff will contact families whose students are assigned either Buy-Back or lunch detention.

Students who stay after school can either be picked-up or use the 5pm Activity Bus. Of course, approved students may also self-transport.

CSH food pantry

CHS Food Pantry and Closing

A HUGE thank you to our Black Knight community for all the pantry donations, including all the packages of donations that have arrived from Amazon. It's really appreciated as well as such a good reminder of how amazing the CHS family is.

The pantry will be located in the front lobby between the two sets of entrance doors. We are waiting on the delivery of our shelf, but in the meantime we will be using the table that is set up. I know it's a big ask, but if you find yourself at the store tonight or tomorrow consider grabbing an item or two. Of course, we will be taking donations at any time going forward, but heading into this long weekend some families are feeling anxious. We also have a live Amazon Wishlist if that is more convenien

PVCC Application and FAFSA Workshop - November 18th

Hello CHS students! Are you interested in going to PVCC after graduation? Do you want to take Dual Enrollment classes here at CHS? Are you interested in getting funding assistance to make your college classes cheaper? If you said yes to any of these questions, then you’ll want to attend the upcoming PVCC Application and FAFSA workshop!

The workshop will take place Tuesday November 18th in A commons during Impact time.

At the session PVCC staff will help students complete the PVCC application and the FAFSA. No sign up is needed, just make sure to bring your laptop, Social Security or Green Card Number, and a parent’s email address so the workshop can go smoothly. I hope to see you there!
