A Note from Dr. Malone

Dear Families -

This week's update includes information related to upcoming events impacting both this school year and student's future planning.

Events include:
  • CATEC Programs Expo - January 14th
  • School Safety Climate Survey - January 14th
  • CHS Curriculum Fair - January 21st

These events include opportunities for students to learn more about program experiences offered through CCS; understand their program pathways and elective options provided by CHS, and to share their voice about school safety and climate.

More information about these events are included below in this newsletter.

Included also are updates to our CHS Food Pantry collection process as well as details on a forthcoming Grief Group/Mourning Circle opportunity.

Lastly, a reminder that report cards will be shared this week via ParentSquare.
A hard copy will not be sent/mailed.

Families and students are encouraged to use and access the PowerSchool portal throughout the year for the most up to date information on your student's grades. This provides you with the most current and accurate overview on how your student is performing in any course.

Students are expected to connect with their teachers for any questions or concerns they have about their grades and to work with their families to help them have access to the PowerSchool parent portal.

As always, We are the Black Knight Nation!

Mourning

Mourning Circle Grief Group

Mourning Circle is our 6 week grief and loss group facilitated by CCS and Region Ten staff that will be launching this semester. This group will be a supportive space for students to connect with other students who have experienced loss: to share stories, learn coping skills, and process complex feelings. We hope this group will provide students a space where they feel less alone with their grief and can find support within community.
tutoring

After-school Tutoring and Buy-Back

Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4p-5p.
Most days will be in the media center but may use A or B Commons if needed.
Snacks and Transportation available.

Students who stay after school can either be picked-up or use the 5pm Activity Bus. Of course, approved students may also self-transport.

With report cards forthcoming, this time may be particularly valuable to students who want to improve their current grade status, get additional academic or organizational support, or to make up missing assessments or assignments.
