A Note from Dr. Malone

Dear CHS Community,

If you have not yet done so, please take a moment to read Andy Jones’s update in this week’s newsletter.
https://www.parentsquare.com/feeds/71865620

At Friday’s varsity games between AHS and CHS, our student-athletes competed like champions, and our student section struck the right balance of cheer, pride, enthusiasm, and character. This has been the standard our students have set all year — and last year as well.

There are times when the integrity and reputation of CHS are tested. What I see — and what I know — is that when we are tested, we show others what it means to be Black Knight Nation.

After the games ended, participants in the parking lot would have seen a considerable CPD presence and may have observed or heard disruptive behavior. CPD, CHS staff, and ACPS staff worked together to support safety and ultimately clear the lot without incident. While the exact cause of the events remains unclear, it does not appear to have involved CCS students. I share this not to redirect accountability or assign blame, but to reinforce an important truth about our community: we are responsible for the environment we create and sustain. We continue to see our students represent CHS with respect, awareness, and sound judgment — and we know who we are.

Coach Jones summed it up perfectly — why it matters:

Why It Matters
  • Positivity: You lift our teams up rather than tear opponents down.
  • Creativity: Your themes and spirit make CHS the best environment in the region.
  • Sportsmanship: You represent our city with dignity, win or lose.

I don’t mind repeating it — I love it when they count us out.
I love the Knight Life.
I love Black Knight Nation.

CHS — I love it. I love it. I love it.

Mourning

Mourning Circle Grief Group

Mourning Circle is our 6 week grief and loss group facilitated by CCS and Region Ten staff that will be launching this semester. This group will be a supportive space for students to connect with other students who have experienced loss: to share stories, learn coping skills, and process complex feelings. We hope this group will provide students a space where they feel less alone with their grief and can find support within community.
