A Note from Dr. Malone

Dear Black Knights,

As we begin the month of March, our school community joins others across the country in recognizing Women’s History Month. This year’s theme, “Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations,” reminds us of the profound impact women have had as teachers, mentors, innovators, and leaders who help shape the paths of those who follow.

At CHS, we see that spirit reflected every day in the women who guide, teach, coach, and support our students, as well as in the many young women of the Black Knight Nation who are already emerging as thoughtful leaders in our community. Throughout the month, we look forward to highlighting the voices, stories, and contributions that continue to inspire the next generation.

Thank you for being part of a community that values learning from one another and celebrating the people who help move us forward together.

Take-Home Meals Available for Students Observing Ramadan

Charlottesville City Schools will offer take-home meals for students observing Ramadan in order to support the diverse needs of our student community.
In lieu of receiving lunch at school, students observing Ramadan can sign up to pick up a shelf-stable meal to take home at the end of the day.

Register by Week (Fill out separate forms for each student)
Have questions or need help registering? Staff at your school can help! Please reach out to your teacher, school counselor, or school social worker.

Jefferson-Madison Regional @ CHS

Our local public library, Jefferson-Madison Regional Library (JMRL) will be visiting CHS for tabling in B Commons during lunches on Friday, March 13 and Friday, April 17. They will be sharing information about their teen programming, the JMRL internship/scholarship program, and general library services and resources (they have so much more than just books!).

JMRL has also offered to deliver library cards on the tabling days for students that submit a library card application ahead of time.

Students can return library card applications to the school counseling office, or you are welcome to drop forms in my mailbox.

Two notes about the library card application form:
1) A parent/guardian signature is required for students under age 18
2) Students are not required to present photo ID (as noted on the form) since I will be able to confirm their address before I return the forms to JMRL
