2026-27 Registration Now Open for Kindergarteners, New Students, and Nonresidents!

Charlottesville City Schools is now accepting registrations for kindergarteners, students new to the division, and nonresident students. Preschool applications also remain open. We’re excited to start getting to know all our new students for the 2026-27 school year!

The 2026-27 school year is when CCS will achieve reconfiguration, with
  • A renovated and expanded middle school that serves 6th-8th grade 
  • Elementary schools that serve K-5
  • A new centralized preschool for 3- and 4-year-olds on the Walker campus

Preschool registration forms can be accessed via Go2Grow at https://go2grow.org/regions/gca/.

Registration includes required documents that can be brought to the schools or uploaded through our secure website. You can view the list of required documents on our website.

City residents whose children currently attend Charlottesville City Schools will be able to re-register their students starting in mid-May.

Kindergarten and Pre-K Registration Day: Thursday, April 23
The division is hosting a Kindergarten and Pre-K Registration Day at its six neighborhood elementaries on Thursday, April 23, from 9am to 3pm. Families are encouraged to sign up for an appointment by school: 


More Information for “Out of Zone” Students (Including Families Planning for Rezoning)
City of Charlottesville families who are requesting their student attend a different CCS elementary school from the one they are zoned to should:
  1. Register your student in SchoolMint
  2. Fill out the 2026-27 Application for Out of School Zone Attendance.
This application is required for students who already attend an out-of-zone school as well as those who wish to attend one for the first time.

More Information for Nonresident Students
  • New nonresident students must apply via SchoolMint by May 29.
  • Returning nonresident students must apply via SchoolMint by May 8. 
  • Nonresident tuition rates are increasing by 5% in the 2026-27 school year. See full list of rates on our Enrollment Hub
  • Returning nonresident families who have not paid tuition in full for the current school year will not be accepted for 2026-27.
